The early years
James Wesley Crook was born in Doweltown, DeKalb county, Tennessee on the 12th of August, 1840 to John Crook[1] and and unconfirmed mother. His fathers wife Charlotte Fry is not likely his mother as they married several years after his birth.
Family Life
He would marry Sarah C. Sandlin Crook on the 28th of August, 1863 in Smith County, Tennessee[2]and they would have:
Sarah would pass away in 1869 and he would remarry to Nancy Jane Parker on the 21st of November, 1869 in DeKalb county, Tennessee[7]and they would have:
In 1900[10] Mary stated she had 15 children with 9 surviving, I suspect this number given was for James's children, not Mary's as she was only about 28 at the time
In 1910[14] Mary confirms she had 5 childrne and all 5 are living
Death
He died on the 15th of February[1], 1919[1] in Dowelltown, DeKalb county, Tennessee[1] and he would be buried in the Dismal Cemetery in DeKalb county, Tennessee[1][15]
