Biography

Martha is likely mother of Emma Adams who was adopted into Rose family in Chippewa Falls, WI. My grandmother Marion Stetter told me we had an Adams president connection, and I have several document listing her birth name as Emma Adams. Through a distant cousin I found out Emma might have been adopted, which I confirmed via her adoptive mother's (Lucinda Rose's) probate record which I found with the help of a U of WI, Eau Claire librarian. My Dad, Clifford Stetter, did Ancestry DNA and using the Thrulines function, I was able to find that Martha Sawyer was Emma's birth mother. Martha died the same year Emma was born, and Emma was born Nov 6, 1853, so Martha could have died giving birth to Emma, or shortly afterwards.
