Biography

Iseult or Isolda Faringdon was the daughter and heir of Thomas Faringdon, of Tincleton and Winterbourne Faringdon in Dorset and his second wife, Margaret Gouvitz, the daughter and co-heir of John Gouvitz[1]

iseult's birth date is unknown, but as she is described as being at least 48 in 1482, then would have been born about 1434.[1]

She married as his first wife, Sir William Martyn[2],[3]

There appears to only be one child of this marriage for whom there is sufficient evidence but there may have been other children.

  1. Christopher Martyn,[3],[2] born about 1464, based on said to be age 40 and more in one of the inquisitions post mortem taken after the death of his father in 1504.[4]

Although Iseult was her father's heir, she didn't receive East and West Tincleton and perhaps other properties until the death of her mother in 1482.[1]

The date Iseult died is unknown, but must have been after 1482, though perhaps not much longer after this date as her husband married a second time to Christina

Hutchins Vol 2 p582 gives no dates for this marriage.

After William's death one IPM says "Christopher Martyn, his son and heir, was then 26 years of age" WILLIAM MARTYN, knight. Commission, wanting; inquisition 28 October, 23 Henry VII BUT Commission of concealments, &c., 24 March, 19 Henry VII; inquisition 24 November, 20 Henry VII He died 24 March last. Christopher Martyn, aged 40 and more, is his son and heir

so, on 24 March 1503/4 the eldest son of marriage born c.1478 or before. Either way the marriage date seems to be incorrect. ( children, Richard and Elizabeth default heirs in IPM from marriage to Christiana http://www.british-history.ac.uk/inquis-post-mortem/series2-vol3/pp209-250 http://www.british-history.ac.uk/inquis-post-mortem/series2-vol2/pp602-616

2 attached children have DOBs 15 years after mothers death. Should mother’s DOD or children's DOBs be edited? Or are these not her children? Needs research and sourcing to resolve db error.

Farrington-330 and Farrington-306 appear to represent the same person because: same name, spouse, child, date & place of death
