The daughter of Henry Severens and Carrie (Whittlesey) Severens, Mable was born in Kalamazoo in 1868.[1][2][3][4] She married James Bird Balch (1868-1953) in Kalamazoo on September 7, 1897.[5] Together, they had one son, Severens Balch (1904-1981). They made their home in Kalamazoo; James was a produce dealer there and later owned and was president of a cold storage busines.[6][7][8][9] Mabel passed away at the age of 90 and is buried at Mountain Home Cemetery (Lot J Sec 447 Grave 3) in Kalamazoo.[10]
