Biography

Abraham was born in Berk Co, PA 1773[1], the son of Christopher Bauer and Maria Scheurer[2]. Stephen Bower reported as great grandfather of Joseph's son Abraham in JM Runk (1897)[3] is actually 2nd great grandfather.

  1. Margaret "Peggy" Rebecca Bower (1799–1874) m. Jacob Wentz
  2. Dianah
  3. Elizabeth "Betsy" Bower (1802–1888) m. Beaver
  4. Jacob Bower (1807–1821)
  5. Mary 'Polly' m. Garber
  6. Sarah "Sally" Bower (1809–1886) m. Daniel Gutshall
  7. Joseph Bower[4] (1811–1846)==> son Abraham[3][5] mentioned in Will 1836
  8. Lydia Ann (Lidddyan in Will) Bower (1814–1890) m. Loy

He operated a distillery at his farm, at Falling Springs, Spring twp[6]

He left a will (WP 16 Dec 1836)[7] in Toboyne Twp Perry Co and passed away in 1836. [8]. He willed to young David B [7] (perhaps Bower) Ewing.

In 1839, " Daniel Gutshall[9] (1808-1885), step father of David Ewing (ca 1825-WP 1851) a minor under the age of 14" petitioned the orphans court of Perry Co for guardianship as he has no person to take charge of him"</i>. He has an interest in certain estate under the will of Abraham Bower (1773-1836), deceased. [10]. David B Ewing's estate was appraised on 25 Jan 1851 in the Burrough of Bloomfield, Perry Co PA [11] Daniel's wife, Sarah Bower[12] (1809-1886) perhaps had David before her marriage to Daniel??]. Clues to the parentage of David B (bower?) Ewing may further lie within the records of a Nicholas Bower whose farm was adjacent to Jesse[13] Ewing in Tyrone Twp.

I added a ref and excerpt from JM RUNK 1897 (link in Ref) that suggest father was Stephen, a native Germany. Is there a source for Christopher? Comments please. There are way too many Bowers but the age of death is consistent

Bower-294 and Bauer-432 appear to represent the same person because: same name and dates, merge away unconnected unlinked profile
