Biography
Joseph T. Smith was born on Christmas Day 1836 to Joseph and Elizabeth (Haller) Smith. A farmer & pioneer peach grower, he married Sarah A. Richard (1835-1885) and they had at least 6 children: Edwin Austin Smith (1860-1918), William E. Smith (d. 1864), Emma Smith Snyder (b. 1868), Mary Elizabeth Smith Sellers (1870-1945), Oscar R. Smith (b. 1873), Sarah Elsie Smith Gushard (1877-1926). After his first wife's death he remarried to Amanda W. Springer (1857-1933) on Dec 5, 1889. He died Aug 9, 1923 in Fayette Twp, Juniata Cnty PA and is buried in Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown, Juniata Cnty PA.
