Son of Sir Francis Henry Lee, 4th Baronet of Quarendon and his wife Lady Elizabeth Pope, daughter of Thomas Pope, 2nd Earl of Downe.
Edward Lee was Fifth Baronet of Ditchley and of Quarendon.
At age 10 he was created Earl of Lichfield.
He was also Viscount Quarendon and Baron Spelsbury.
He followed James II to Rochester, Kent after the king's escape from Whitehall in December 1688.
Husband of Lady Charlotte Fitzroy. They married on 6 February 1677. They were twelve and thirteen years old when they wed. They had at least eleven children.
