Nathan was born in 1866. He died in 1944 at the age of 78.

Son of Dr. Bryan Watkins Whitfield 1828 - 1908 and Mary Alice (Foscue) Whitfield 1838 - 1889. Grandson and namesake of General Nathan Bryan Whitfield I of "Gaineswood", the great mansion designed and built in Demopolis, Alabama by General Nathan Bryan Whitfield I.
