Biography
Martha "Mattie" Nunn was the daughter of William A. H. Nunn and his wife Amanda, who may have been born Amanda Pruitt. Mattie was born in Mississippi, probably in Calhoun County where her parents were listed in the 1860 census. (1) Mattie's stepdaughter, Minnie Lee (Hunt) Lackey listed her as Mattie Ganthy Nun in her Bible and listed her birth and death dates. Mattie died in Arkansas, probably in Van Buren, or Searcey County.
Mattie and her first husband, A.D. Hunt had one child, Roxanne Elizabeth "Lizzy" Hunt, born 20 July 1881. (5, 6) After A.D. Hunt died on 14 Feb 1882 (5), Mattie married 2) John Vanzant on 6 May 1883 in Searcey County, Arkansas. (4) John and Mattie had 2 sons: 1) William born 8 Feb 1884 and died 22 August 1884 and 2) Grover Lee Vanzant born 9 Sept 1885 and lived well into adult hood. (5) (6)
