I was born in New Plymouth, N.Z. 2nd child of Tone and Norrie Russell, lived on the family farm at Waitoitoi, of 130 acres, (most Maori lease) milking cows and running sheep - attended Mimi Primary School, completing my education at Waitara High School. Began work at the Taranaki Daily News in the New Year of 1961. 1962 worked at Grundy's Motors before heading south to explore the world. Wanganui 1st stop, 3 months working for GK Campbell (Accountants) then onto the Tobacco fields of Riwaka for three months. Hitch hiked via West Coast to Christchurch - 1st flat Barbadoes St.
