Lucy (Phillips) Cannon lived in Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand.

Lucy was born 20 Jan 1875^[1] at Mount Grey Road.^[2] She was the daughter of William Phillips and Sarah Ann Matthews. ^[3]

In 1880 she lived at Sefton and attended Mt Grey Downs school.^[1]

On 14 Oct 1898 at her father's house, she married Henry Cannon, a 26-year-old butcher from County Londonderry, Ireland. ^{[4] [2]}

She passed away 11 June 1928 at Stratford Hospital. She is buried at Kopuatama Cemetery, Stratford, plot 95 block 22.^{[5][6] [7]} The plot also has daughter Olga; although the grave is unmarked. ^[8]

Research Notes

This isn't the first time we've seen Sarah Ann Matthews given a different surname on a formal record! Her son Morris's marriage names her as "Beard". Not sure what that is about. It's definitely the right person though as I have a DNA match to her descendants. McNabb-412 14:24, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
