Biography
Hambright Black was son of Gavin Black who was from Tryon (present day Lincoln) County, NC. The signature of a John Walker appears next to that of George Black and Frederick Hambright on the Tryon County Resolves. Gavin Black b. Iredell Co. NC married Sarah Hambright 1775-1826.
Hambright Black served in the War of 1812 from Mississippi.[1]
Hambright married Mary "Polly" Walker Berry 18 Feb 1817 in Maryville, Blount, Tennessee.[2]
They were the parents of: Margaret Ethelinda Black b and d 1818; Thomas Chalmers Black b and d 1819; Mary Malinda Black Rhea b 15 Aug 1820 d 20 Mar 1848 Queen City, Cass, Texas; Elizabeth Teressa Black b 1823; Lafayette Black b 1824 d. in California.[3]
