Biography

Franklin Noble Trites was born on 8 April, 1872 in Moncton, New Brunswick to Isaiah and Mary Elizabeth Trites[1].

Franklin N. Trites married Mary Matilda Pitts (Mamie) at his residence in Steveston, British Columbia, on 8 February, 1900, Rev. J. J. Whelan officiating. The bridegroom was Protestant, 27, and a Hotel Keeper, the bride 21, and Catholic, which is probably why they married at a private residence instead of in a Church. The witnesses were John A. Pitts and Maggie McHugh, both residents of Steveston[2][[1]].

The 1901 Census recorded Frank, 28, born April 8, 1872 in New Brunswick, of German Origin, Baptist, and Mary Trites, 29 (an error, she was 19), born May 16, 1881 in Nova Scotia of French origin, Catholic, living at dwelling #252, in Sub-District E, District No 2, New Westminster, British Columbia[3]. There were three lodgers living with them, including Mary's widowed mother, Margaret Pitts, 62, born in 1848 in Nova Scotia, of Scotch origin, and Catholic. They all could read, write and speak English. Interestingly, there is nothing recorded for Frank's earnings, although that was a question on the census, however I note that this information is missing on all but a few lines so providing this information may have been voluntary and he declined.

Frank and Mary Trites had 1 child, a stillborn son born 6 November, 1904[4].

Frank was widowed on 11 December, 1904.

Frank Trites married Frances Louise Ferriss (Ferriss-112) in 1906 in Multnomah County, Oregon.

Frank and Frances Trites had 4 children:

  • Ernest, born December, 1907;
  • Helen, born April, 1910;
  • Frances Patricia, born ca. 1914; and
  • Franklin Kitchener, born ca. 1915.

The 1911 Census recorded Frank, 37, born Apr, 1874, in New Brunswick, and Frances Trites, 31, born April,1880, in Ontario, living in Vancouver, where Frank was working as a Real Estate Broker, with their children Ernest, 4, born Dec, 1907, and Helen, 1, born Apr, 1910[5][6].

Frank and Frances's son Ernest died on 31 May, 1912, and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Frank Noble Trites died on 25 October, 1918, at Agassiz, British Columbia, and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver, British Columbia[7].

Trites-210 and Trites-250 appear to represent the same person because: They have the same parents, and the same birth and death dates and places.
