John was born in 1720. He was the son of Robert Oliver and Susanna Knight.
He was educated at Trinity College Dublin, entered 23 May 1739, B.A. 1743, M.A. 1746. [1]
He was the Archdeacon of Ardagh.
John married Elizabeth Ryder, daughter of John Ryder DD, Archbishop of Tuam in 1761.
