Sometime after the birth of their daughter Esther, they immigrated to the Timber Ridge area near Rockbridge in the colony of Virginia, following in the footsteps of his sister Esther (Blair) Lyle, who, with her husband Matthew, had settled in Timber Ridge near Rockbridge. (Four other siblings had also immigrated to the colonies, settling in New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland.) James passed away in 1807. [2]
