Charles Ralph Wormsley Jr., 59, of Lake City, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.

Mr. Wormsley was employed at Peoples National Bank, the Clinton/Norris branch, where he was bank manager and vice-president.

He was an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Lake City and taught the Rector Sunday School Class for 30 years.

Mr. Wormsley was instrumental, along with B.J. Young, in the development of the Little League football program in Lake City. His family said he loved young people and coached Little League football, baseball and basketball teams.

He also loved to fish and hunt and spent many hours in the woods and on area lakes. He was considered by his family to be a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather who will be missed very much.

Mr. Wormsley is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patsy (Elliott) Wormsley (?-?); his daughter, Krista (Wormsley) Little (?-?) and her husband, Jeff Little, of Clinton, Tennessee; his son, Clark Wormsley (?-?) and his wife, Jody (unknown) Wormlsey (?-?), of Knoxville; his father, Charles Ralph Wormsley Sr. (1916-2003) of Lake City, Tennessee; and by his grandchildren, Logan Little and Garrett Little, both of Clinton and Jordan Wormsley and Parker Wormsley, both of Knoxville.

He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Christy Elliot and Juanita Elliott of Lake City, Tennessee; his brother- and sister-in-law, Chris Elliot and Hazel (unknown) Elliott of Lake City; his nieces, Leigh Ann Elliott and Crissy Jill Elliott, both of Lake City; and his aunts, Helen (White) Wormsley, Marjorie Dean (White) Adkins, Libby White and Jean (White) Elliott.

Jack Reynolds, President of Peoples National Bank in LaFollette, and employees of the branch in Clinton/Norris, were considered special friends.

Mr. Wormsley was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Ruth (White) Wormsley (1920-1989).

The funeral was held Sunday, July 1, at First Baptist Church in Lake City with the Rev. Brian Courtney and the Rev. Wayne Markham officiating.

A graveside service was to be conducted at 11 this morning, July 2, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. Pallbearers will be Donnie Bennett, Chris Elliott, Bob Tucker, Ken Shrull, Don Whitaker, L.C. Madron, Billy Joe Lamb, Jim Sharp and Johnny Wormsley. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Rector Sunday School Class.
