William Williams was elected to the Continental Congress on July 11, 1776, the day Connecticut received official word of the independence vote of July 2, to replace Oliver Wolcott. He represented Lebanon, Connecticut, at the state's Constitutional ratifying convention in January 1788.
William Williams III died 12 Jan 1795 at Ledyard, Connecticut [1].
Note: This person was incorrectly attached in the Wheeler History of Stonington to spouse Margaret Morgan [2]. His spouse was Margaret Cook(e). Apparently the Wheeler publication erroneously reversed the sequence of his mother and his wife.

Williams-106708 and Williams-96061 do not represent the same person because: This was not the spouse of Margaret Cooke. The biographies do not match.
Note also that the F-A-G posting for Margaret "Cooke" is not supported by the depicted grave marker. It simply says that her name was Margaret. It was presumed to be Margaret Cooke only by someone who left flowers in 2015. She was Margaret Morgan. The father of this William Williams married Margaret Cooke. She was a generation older.
Williams-106708 and Williams-96061 appear to represent the same person because: they share similar vital statistics (the same death year) and the same parents. Their biographies match as well.
The biographies do not match. As noted in the Williams-106708 profile, he was married to Margaret Morgan. He will remain disconnected from Margaret Cooke unless more robust sourcing can be produced to demonstrate that he was married to Margaret Cooke.
If the merge is to proceed at any point, here's what I recommend:
a) Change this profile to match the death data in the F-A-G posting, which initially was the only "source" supporting it
b) Detach Margaret Cooke as his wife. Other than a post-script that someone else other than its creator inserted to the F-A-G page, there is no evidence yet presented that Margaret Cooke was his wife.
The geographical locations in the header do not coincide with the data in the cited source. This profile may represent the grandson of the William Williams (abt.1625-abt.1701) who immigrated to North America from Wales. The purported attachments in Find-A-Grave are not necessarily valid. The spouse of this person may have been Margaret Morgan. Additional investigation is encouraged.

Also as clearly noted, for William Williams III (1708-1795) (this profile), he died in Ledyard, not Preston.
