Their children on this day were with Mary's mother.

Mary and George lived in Liverpool till 1851 with all of their nine children born there. Their first child born in 1836. Between 1846 and 1849 they lost three young infants, Robert Cornelius at 16 days, Maryanne in infancy, and Mary Ellen at 8 months. Their last child born in 1850. They seemed to do quite well but George tired of his profession and the loss of three children perhaps lead them to their decision to immigrate to Australia. The lure of recently discovered gold probably also played a part. Their last address in Liverpool was 4 Great Hampden Street.[1]

Mary, George and six children embarked upon a voyage from Liverpool to Melbourne, Australia as unassisted migrants on the 'Martin Luther' on 17 November 1851. A nephew of Mary, Henry Jabez Unwin, 19 yrs accompanied them on this voyage.[1]

Their life in Melbourne was hard at first but they soon prospered and seemed to have an enjoyable and happy existence, with their children well educated and leading for filling lives.[1]

Her youngest child, Georgina died in 1851, 29yrs at Locksley, NSW. Her eldest child, George Cotton Clark and his wife moved to Sydney to live in 1868, taking Mary's first grandchild with them.

Mary died in 1884 age 74 years in the Victoria ward, Lying in Hospital, Drummond St, Melbourne, from 'tuberculosis of the heart'.[6]

Buried at the Melbourne Cemetery.[7][8].
