Biography

Birth

Robert was likely born in Scotland circa 1215, the son of Odinel de Umfraville and an unknown mother.[1] Robert's date of birth is an estimate based upon the birth of his first son in 1240.

Marriage

Robert de Umfraville was married to Eva de Balliol prior to 1240, the approximate date of birth of their first born son and heir, Gilbert (d.1269).[1] Their second son, Richard,[1] was born about 1242 (d. 1278) and allegedly went insane, whereby Alexander III petitioned Edward I on third son Ingram's (b.c.1245, d. 1320)[2] behalf to be awarded the lands of his late father, some time after the death of Gilbert in 1269.[3][4]

Death

Robert de Umfraville died circa1257.[5] The location of his death and burial are unknown.
