Cheeseekau (also spelled "Chiksika") was a war chief of the Kispoko division of the Shawnee people. He was older brother and mentor to Tecumseh.
He had several nicknames, including Pepquannakek (Gunshot), Popoquan (Gun), "Sting", and "Shawnee Warrior." He had at least one wife and at least one daughter.[1]
Cheeseekau was killed on October 1, 1792, in an attack on Buchanan's Station, a frontier fort in Tennessee near Nashville. Some older sources listed his death date as 1788.
