Edmund Alvord, born 11 Apr 1803 at Rutland, Vermont [1], was the third child of William Alvord and Lucy Claghorn.
He married 19 Aug 1834, Albany, New York, Mahala Manuel [b. 2 Sep 1815, Albany, New York, daughter of Joseph & Mary Manuel; d. 10 Aug 1863]. They had 3 children, born at Albany:
Per the Alvord genealogy, Edmund Alvord was a cabinet maker by trade, a very worthy and estimable man. According to the caption of his online memorial site, Edmund was a master cabinet maker. He and his older brother William were interested in cabinet making. His brother died in [1837], but Edmund continued in the trade. He was the owner of Alvord & Winne Cabinetry from 1831-1836 working with partner John Winne. The were located on 99 State Street from 1835-1838 and 25 Green from 1839-1840 in Albany, New York. By 1850, Edmund had relocated with his family to North Bergen in Hudson County, New Jersey where he continued his cabinet business. He is listed in the early craftperson files of early furniture made in New Jersey.
Edmund Alvord passed away about 1880 in Yonkers, New York. His grave is in Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, USA [2].
