A family genealogy suggests that Robert Wilson was born in County Armagh, Ireland.[1]
The 1900 census (bear with me) indicates that their daughter Mary was born in Ireland around 1832, and that she emigrated to the United States in 1860.[2] The 1860 census suggests that Mary was married to her husband John and living in Rochester, NY in 1860, with a child two years old that had been born in New York, putting the date of their arrival in the United states even earlier.[3] This suggests that Robert and Jane may have emigrated to the United States fairly late in life, perhaps not long before Jane's death in 1859.
Robert was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery (lot 436 section O) in Rochester, NY. His gravestone suggests he was born in 1808, and died in 1861. FindAGrave suggests that he died in September of that year, without a source.

The date of the sale of the lot in Mount Hope cemetery suggests that he bought it in response to (or in close expectation of) his wife Jane's death.
