Biography
Wylde Lyde Latham Bowen moved to Lake City, Florida in 1860. Orange grove owner and newspaper editor prewar. Read law. Graduated from Mossy Creek Baptist (now Carson-Newman) College in 1861. Colonel of 4th Florida Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.[1] Postwar merchant in Jewell, Georgia and owner of the Jewell Georgia Cotton Mills.[2]
Son of Reece Bowen and Mary Moody. Husband of Mary Emma Jewell. Final resting place in Jewell Cemetery, Hancock County, Georgia.[3]
