In 1917, Curly registered for the WWI draft in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was married and working as a carrier for G M Kemp, contractor. He listed his race as African. His dependents were his mother, wife, and sister. He was living at 307 and 1/2 No. Elgin in Tulsa, Oklahoma.[2]
Curly passed away in 1921 from a gunshot wound received during the Tulsa Race Massacre.[3] Burial was in potter's field in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma.[4]
