Honar Giffard was born in June 1604. She is the daughter of Arthur Giffard and Agnes Leigh. Honar was baptised^[1] on 9 June 1604 at Northam, Devon, England.

On 1 Apr 1621, Honar Giffard was named^[2] in her grandfather [Giffard-463|John Giffard]]’s will as follows:

I give unto Honor Giffard my grandchilde my sonne Arthur Giffard’s daughter ffouer [4] hundred poundes of lawfull English money to be paid her att her daie of marriage or att her age of one and twentie yeares which shall happen first but upon this condition that she do acquite discharge or otherwise cause permition to be given to acquite and discharge my cosen William Leigh of Northam and his executors for the some of ffiftie poundes excess of a greater some heretofore given unto her by her grandfather Leigh

she was also bequeathed a yearly payment of ten pounds to be paid in quarterly instalments until she either married or attained the age of 21.
