Gijsbert Pieck is geboren in Gelderland in 1445

Gijsbert was born in 1445. He is the son of Arnt Pieck and Belia van Polanen.

Gijsbert was the lord of 1/2 Asperen. He was restored for this after the death of Count (Hertog) Carel van Bourgondie in 1477. He was given in lease the "Hooge Huis" in Beesd and he also was lord of Zuilichem through the marriage of his first wife.

He was present at the signing of the treaty on March 12, 1480 between Lodewijk of France and Gelderland against Austria and Kleef.

In 1480 against the wil of Gijsbert, Wessel van den Boetzelaer arranged that the Bourgoundische troops took his castle. Gijsbert called the people of Asperen to arms. The Bourgondiers attacked and the people fled. They tried to take refusge in the monastry of "Kruidbroeders" and in the castle of Gijsbert. Gijsbert escaped with the intent of getting help. His castle was besieged and burned. As revenge he burned Langerak, what belonged to Wessel's mother Elburg van Langerak. He lost his side of Asperen, which was given to Wessel Boetzelaar.

Gijsbert was bitter and took his brother Walraven prisoner. He gave Walraven to his brother Cornelis to keep him locked up. As a respone Count (Hertog) Carel lay siege around Beesd until October 1493. During the siege Gijsbert and his men plundered the monastry (abdij) of Marienwaard. Gijsbert was captured by the Bourgondiers and he would be able to keep his life, if his brother Corenlis would give up the besieged castle. Cornelis did not give in to the demands, so Gijsbert was beheaded in 1493.
