Rosie (Unknown) Silicon has Jewish Roots.

Rosie (Unknown) Silicon migrated from Russia to the United States.

Rosie was born about 1849 in Russia.^[1][2] Her parents were also born in Russia.^[1]

She married Morris Silicon (or Sulison) in 1869.^[1]

Note: these are probably Americanized names adopted at immigration.

They emigrated to United States in 1891.^[1][2]

In the 1900 US census, Rosy Sulison (50) and Morris Sulison (52) were living in Boston, Massachusetts, with son Abraham (14). He was a tailor.^[1]

In the 1910 census, Rose Sulizon (63) and Morris Sulizon (62) were living in Boston, Massachusetts. He was working in a trouser factory.^[2]

The 1916 City Directory for Boston showed Morris Silican living at 168 Howard Ave, Dorchester, Boston.^[3] Morris died in 1921, and was buried at Chevar Tilim of Boston & Chelsea cemetery.^[4]

Their daughter Annie C Epstein, shown as the widow of Meyer, was living at the same address at least in the 1916, 1920 and 1929 Boston City Directory.^[5][6][7] Annie was living at this same address in the 1930 census, but her mother is not mentioned.

In addition to son Abraham who appears in the US census records, they likely had other children including:

• Anna Celia, born about 1874 in Russia. She also emigrated around 1891, and at that age was likely with parents and family. Her 1894 marriage record lists her parents as Moses and Sarah Sooleson. It is thought that this was a misspelling of her parents names, probably given in their original Russian version, and that they were Morris and Rose Silicon as registered in America.^[8]

Research Notes

There is a death index record for Rosie Sulkin in 1929 in Boston.^[9] There is also a burial for Rose Silkin in The Chevra Tilim of Boston & Chelsea Cemetery, Everett, Middlesex who died on 18 June 1929, aged 82. ^[10]

The grave marker inscription has been translated on FindaGrave, and reads

This is likely the record for this Rose, wife of Morris Silicon. It would be consistent with her not listed in her home in the 1930 census.

Note also that no mention of Morris or Rose has been identified in the 1920 census. However the address where they were living was a big building, with lots of families listed there in the census. Likely they were just missed.
