William Southan has English ancestors.

William Henry Southan was born on the 7th March 1889, in Kempsey, New South Wales, Australia, the son of Joseph Southan and Jessie Thompson.^[1]

William married firstly Pearl Tate on the 15th March 1916, the event being registered at Glebe.^[2] They were to have one known child*, a daughter they named Madge. * The privacy cutoff prevents knowing if there were other children.

Pearl having died in 1929, William married secondly Alice Mary McNeil on the 18th April 1934, the event being registered at Bellingen.^[3]

William Henry Southan passed away on the 4th January 1971, in Macksville, New South Wales, Australia, ,^[4] and was interred in the Bowraville General Cemetery, Bowraville, where his wife would later be laid to rest beside him.^[5]
