The daughter of James Barnes and Elizabeth (Creager) Barnes, Lizzie was born in Claiborne County , Tennessee{citation needed}} in 1876, residing with her family in Civil District 11.[1] Her father passed away in 1894 and her mother returned, with her children, to her home in Lee County, Virginia.
Elizabeth Barnes marriedJames Davis, the son of Rush Franklin Davis and Martha Hobbs, marrying in Virginia 1895.[citation needed] and having six known children together. They made their home in Rose Hill, Virginia, where her husband worked as a day laborer.[2][3] By 1920, Lizzie and her family had left Virginia for Kentucky, residing in Middlesboro, where her husband worked as a section hand on the railroad.[4] By 1930, they lived in Claiborne County, Tennessee's Civil District 6, where her husband had taken up farming.[5] By 1940, Lizzie and Jim had returned to Virginia, residing in Rose Hill, farming.[6]
Elizabeth Davis passed away at the age of 82 and is buried at Wheeler-Boles Cemetery in Ewing, Virginia.[7]
