Biography

Eunice was born in 1813. The 1910 US Census notes that "she will be 97 on Jun 4", documenting that she was born on that date in 1913. The 1810 and 1820 census have her parents living in Richmond, Vermont so it is assumed that is her birthplace. She married Safford Towers June 20, 1846 in Millbury, Massachusetts. Safford went off to the California Gold Rush in 1849 and we find her with children Henry aged 3 and Frances aged 1 back living with her widowed mother and younger siblings in Richmond, Vermont in the 1850 US Census. In the 1880 US Census we find her still in Vermont living with the family of her daughter Frances. But in 1900 the US Census shows her boarding with the neighbors of her grandson Albert Towers in Platte, Nebraska. And finally the 1910 US Census has her living with the family of her granddaughter Ethel Luce in Pulaski, South Dakota where she passed away about 1912 and was buried in nearby Faulkton.
