William was born in 1898. He passed away in 1952. His obituary was published in the Herald (Belmont, Massachusetts):^[1]

William A. Sturgis, 54, of 26 Prentiss Lane, Belmont, operator of an insurance business at 59 Broad Street, Boston, died June 5 at Mt. Auburn Hospital.

Born in Portland, Me., he had attended New York Military Academy and Bowdoin College. He left Bowdoin to serve overseas in the first World War. On his return, he entered the insurance business. He lived in Belmont for 19 years.

He was a member of the Boston Rotary Club, Beaver Lodge of Masons of Belmont, Belmont Post, American Legion, and Belmont Dramatic Club.

He leaves his wife, Margaret (Hall) Sturgis, and three daughters, Mrs. John B. Ayer, Franklin, Ct., Mrs. John J. Grady, Jr., Watertown, and Mrs. Richard C. Foster, Antrim, N. H.

The Rev. John P. Fitzsimmons officiated at the funeral services held Saturday morning at the Plymouth Congregational Church.
