Biography

Birth in Maine

Georgia Ann Fish, youngest of the nine children of John Fish and Abigail Stone Smart, was born in Weston, Aroostook County, Maine, United States, 3 Apr 1879.^[2] Georgia's eight elder siblings, five brothers and three sisters, were: William, born in 1859,^[3] Annie, born in 1861 but who died before 1871, before Georgia was born,^[4] Philo, born in 1863,^[5] Frank, born in 1865,^[6] Alvia, born in 1867,^[7] Ida ("Bessie"), born in 1872,^[8] and Mary, born in 1874.^[9]

Move to Washington

Sometime during the 1880s, Georgia's birth family relocated to King County, Washington. There, in Seattle, in early 1889, her brother, William, married Susan Houghton.^[3] After marrying, William and Susan resided in nearby Houghton with Georgia, Georgia's parents, who continued to farm, and Georgia's siblings Philo, Frank, Alvia, Weymouth, Bessie and Mary.^[10] Georgia's brother, William, lost his wife, Susan, in February 1892.^[3] The next month, Georgia's 19 year-old sister, Bessie, wed 39 year-old Erastus Kirtley.^[8] As for Georgia, she in 1893 continued to reside in Houghton with her parents and siblings William, Philo, Frank, Alvia, and Mary, her father farming and her brothers working other jobs, William and Alvia as lumbermen, Philo as a teamster, and Frank and Weymouth as sawyers.^[11]

Marriage, Child, Father's Death

At age 18, and pregnant, Georgia married 27 year-old Jeremiah Calloway "Cal" Patty in Seattle, Washington, 7 Jul 1897.^[12] They settled in Harrington, Liberty County, Washington, about 160 miles or so east of Houghton, where, 28 Sep 1897, less than three months after marrying, they had their first child, Will.^[13] The following month, Georgia's 34 year-old brother, Philo, married a widow, Hattie (Sadler) Mobley,^[5] and, two days later, her father died in Houghton, at age 78.^[14]

In 1900, Georgia and Cal resided in Harrington with their son, Willie, and a boarder, Cal farming.^[15]

More Children

In Harrington, 3 Aug 1901, Georgia and Cal had their second child, Doris.^[16]

Death

Georgia passed away in Everett, Snohomish, Washington, United States, after 25 years in a nursing home, 7 Apr 1967, at age 88.^[17] She's interred in Everett's View Crest Abbey Mausoleum.^[17]
