Biography
Grizelda Tonge is Notable.
Grizelda was born about 1803[1][2]. She was the daughter of Cottnam Tonge and Elizabeth Bonnell. In 1825, she passed away from tropical fever shortly after joining her father in Demarara in the West Indies[1][3].
"Her literary importance lay not in her verse but in the symbolic state she achived in the minds of a generation of young Nova Scotian writers ... highly-gifted songstress of Acadia."[4]
