F. M. Caldwell, Fresno Hotel Operator, Dies Francis Marion Caldwell, 54, proprietor of the Hotel Californi at Broadway and Merced Street for the last four years, died last night at a local hospital. He formerly lived in Visalia where he was engaged in the tailoring business. Coming to California thirty-six years ago from Indiana, his native state. Caldwell had spent most of the time in this section of the San Joaquin Valley. He was a resident of Visalia from 1908 to 1920. Besides his widow, Mrs. Laura Bertha Caldwell of Fresno, a brother Oliver Morton Caldwell, of Los Angeles, and four sisters who live in the East. He was the uncle of Captain Frank Herschburger of the United State Navy, who is stationed at San Francisco. Caldwell was born at Covington, Indiana. Funeral arrangements are being made by Stephens and Bean and will be announced later.
