Note: Dec. 3, 1946 2.19 PM - Pittsfield, MA: Fire at two-family house at 398 Newell Street, owned and occupied on first floor by Margaret Dusio;. on second floor by Bernard B. Plouffe. Fire started by blowtorch being used by plumbers, extinguished in cellar before arrival of department. Booster line used to put out flames which reached partitions. [1] 1948: Bernard O. Plouffe of 398 Newell Street has been appointed chairman of the fourth annual city-wide Halloween committee which will celebrate that holiday. under the co-sponsorship of The Berkshire Evening Eagle and the Parks and Recreation Department. Mr. Plouffe will make arrangement for the parade and for the special parties and dances which will be part of the celebration Jackson J. Perry, superviser of. Parks and Recreation, made the appointment. One of the organizers of the Lakewood Civic Association, Mr. Plouffe is also president of the Hibbard Parent-Teacher Association. During World War II he served in the Navy. He is married and has two children. [10] Bernard Plouffe Named Head of Lakewood Group. Bernard O. Plouffe was elected president of the Lakewood Civic Association at a meeting on Dec 4, 1950. He succeeded to Raymond Ducharme. [11] Bernard was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the General Electric Athletic Association. He was a former member of the former Hibbard Elementary School PTA and the former Lakewood Civic Association. He also served as first chief of the former civil defense auxiliary firemen. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting. When he died, besides his wife, he left a son, Frederick A. Plouffe of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. [5]
