Georgia (Groves) Dancy is a part of US Black heritage.
Georgia was born in 1904 in Tennessee. She was the daughter of Samuel Graves and Zenobia Jacobs. In 1910 she was living with her parents and siblings in Memphis, Tennessee; by 1920 her parents had divorced and she was living with her mother and stepfather Louis Siceluff in Philadelphia. Georgia returned to Memphis and married Andrew Dancy in 1926 just across the Mississippi River in Arkansas. They had three children whom they raised in Memphis while Andrew worked at a Memphis hotel. The 1940 census indicates she had completed 2 years of college. She passed away in 1991 and is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown in Memphis.
