James was born in 1825. He was the son of Richard Browning and Sarah Genery.

He was baptised on 24 September 1825 at Saint Andrew, Enfield, London, England^[1].

DEATHS.

BROWNING.— On the 9th inst., aged thirty, James Browning, Esq., of Little Windmill-street, the youngest son of Richard Browning, Esq., late of Commercial-road, Lambeth.^[3]

He was buried on 12 October 1855 at Highgate Cemetery (Camden), London^[4].
