Assheton's eldest son, Penn predeceased his father, dying aged 40, at Penn, co Buckingham, on 1 September, 1797, at his father's house.[1] Penn's oldest son George Augustus William Curzon, born 4 February, 1788, also predeceased his grandfather, dying at his mother's house at Twickenham on 6 January, 1805.[1]
His father and elder brother, Sir Nathaniel, were elected to represent Clitheroe in Parliament, and following in their footsteps, Assheton represented Clitheroe from 18 April, 1754 to 1 September, 1780, and 28 February, 1792.[2]
On 13 August, 1794, he was created Baron Curzon of Penn.[2]
On 27 February, 1802, he was created Viscount Curzon of Penn.[2]
Assheton Curzon, Viscount Curzon of Penn, died on 21 March, 1820,[3] at Lower Brook Street, London, aged 91.[2] He was interred at Penn,[2] where his hatchment is on the south wall of the south aisle of Holy Trinity Penn Church and where his surviving children erected a monument to him by Sir Francis Chantrey, deemed to have been the greatest English sculptor of his generation.[3] His will dated 24 June, 1809, with its two codicils dated 7 March, 1812 and 2 February, 1818, proved 8 April, 1820, by the Hon.
