Biography

Lovie Tipton is a part of US Black heritage.

Morkka was born about 1920. She is the daughter of Newt Tipton and Ezra Wynne. In 1920, the family was living in Dyer County, Tennessee.^[1]

She went by the nickname "Lovie" in the 1930 census ^[2] and went by that name for the rest of her life.

She married S.L. Roundtree in 1936 ^[3]. The marriage lasted until Lovie's death two years later.

Lovie passed away in 1938 in Dyersburg, Tennessee ^[4].

I deduced that Morkka and Lovie were the same person due to the fact that Next Tipton and Ezra Wynne are listed on the death certificate for Lovie Roundtree. Neither Morkka or Lovie is listed as a sibling in the obituary of sister Mary (Tipton) Harris . That meant that Morkka was probably Lovie and not Dovie in the 1930 census. I then used process of elimination to determine that Morkka was the same age as Lovie and probably not separate people. If new evidence appears indicating that they are not the same person the profiles will need to be split. -C Hartwell (6/21/22)
