Mary (Beardsley) Clarke is a descendant of the immigrants William Beardsley and Mary Harvie.
Mary Ellen Beardsley was born on August 22, 1865 in Knox, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Charles Ordega Beardsley (1840–1930) and Sarah Isobel Mowry (1842–1923).
Mary married John Haswell Clarke (born on November 7, 1859 in Marine Township, Madison, Illinois, United States; son of William Clarke). Their children were:

- Jay Carrol Clarke (1898– )
