Biography

Marie Cléophé Laplante was born on 21 May 1821 in Saint-Constant, Laprairie, Lower Canada, daughter of André Leriger dit Laplante and Marie Francoise Gervais.^[1]

Marie married Moise Lemieux on October 4, 1847 at Saint-Isidore, Laprairie.^[2] Their children were:

1. Marie Olivine Lemieux, b. 1848
2. Elmire Lemieux, b. 1854
3. Marie Lemieux, b. 1857
4. Joseph Lemieux, b. 1859

She died in Somerville, Massachusetts at the St Augustine Home for the Aged. Services were held at St. Louis Church, with burial in St Patrick Cemetery, in Lowell, Massachusetts. ^{[3] [4]}

Research Notes

1. Records from 1799-1834 for Saint-Constant are not available on FamilySearch as the civil copy of the records have been lost.
2. It is thought that her death record inaccurately lists her as 71 years old instead of 91, based on the fact that her funeral was held from her son's home, 268 Hildreth Street, the home of Joseph Lemieux , her son that was born in 1859.
