Biography

Arthur Snow was born on 20 March 1777, on his parents' farm in Killingworth, Middlesex, Connecticut, USA, during the American Revolution. He was the son of John Snow and Hepzibah (Hall) Snow. He was the couple's 7th child (of 11) and 5th son (of 8). ^[1]

On 16 April 1807 in Old Saybrook, Middlesex, Connecticut, Arthur Snow married Lynda (Shailer) Snow (1788-1853). The couple lived first had a farm in Killingworth, Middlesex, Connecticut, where Arthur Snow was recorded on the 1810 US Census. Arthur Snow was an American patriot and enlisted as a Private in "Sill's Company," Connecticut Volunteers, in the War of 1812.^{[2] [3]}

After his military service, he moved his family to to Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut, where he was recorded on the 1820, 1830, and 1840 US Census reports. Finally, after 1841, the family moved to Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut. He passed away there in 1846. ^{[4] [5] [6]}

Arthur Snow passed away at his home in Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut, on 5 February 1846. He was 69 years old. ^[8] Arthur Snow was buried at West Cemetery, Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut, USA. ^[9]

Lynda (Shailer) Snow survived her husband's passing. Her youngest daughter, Martha G. Snow, b: 1822, had been widowed in 1845 and she had 2 small children to raise. She moved in with her now-widowed mother in Meriden, Connecticut, and their combined family was recorded living there on the 1850 US Census. The 2 women were running a Boarding House in the city of Meriden and on the 1850 Census reported 8 house residents, ranging in age from 16 to 55 years old. ^[10]

Lynda (Shailer) Snow passed away at her home in Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut on 7 August 1853. She was 65 years old. ^[11] She was laid to rest next to her late husband, Arthur Snow, at West Cemetery, Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut, USA. ^[12]
