Biography
Reverend Arnold Spencer-Smith was born about 1880. He was the son of Charles Spencer Smith and Charlotte Gaze.
He was a Scottish Episcopal Church priest and former schoolmaster.
He was a member of the Ross Sea Party whose task was to establish a series of supply depots across the Great Ice Barrier from the Ross Sea to the Beardmore Glacier in preparation for Ernest Shackleton's 1914-1917 Trans-Antarctic Expedition, [1][2] He was a cousin of fellow team member, Australian Irvine Gaze.
