Gustav was born July 5, 1875,[1] the second child of Sivert Samuelson and Rasmina Pedersdatter.
At some time after his mother passed away in 1906, Gustav purchased the land that their family had been farming and changed the name to Westvik.[2] For this reason he is referred to, at times, with the surname of Westvik. He passed away on 18th of July 1918[3], a victim of the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic.[3]
