Biography

Arthur was born on 5 August 1891 in Harris, Washington County, Arkansas, the son of William Wallace and Maybelle Strain.^[1]

Arthur registered for the World War I draft on 29 May 1917. He was living in Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas. He worked for the Cosden Refinery. He was medium height, slender build, had blue eyes, and brown hair.^[2]

On 5 January 1920, Arthur roomed at 406 N. Cheyenne in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. He was a lineman for the telephone company.^[3]

Arthur was married on 30 July 1921 in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma to Nettie Gibson.^[4]

On 9 April 1930, the Wallace family lived in Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas. The family paid $21 a month in rent and did not have a radio.^[5]

Arthur registered for the World War II draft. He was living at 216 A. Street in Kerville working for the Veterans Administration.^[7]

Arthur died on 4 April 1966 in Kerr County, Texas.^[8]

Funeral services for Arthur D. Wallace, 73, will be held Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock in the Plummer-Smith chapel with Rev. Ralph Reasor officiating and interment will be in the Garden of Memories. His death occurred Tuesday at the Veteran's Administration Hospital.

A native of Arkansas, he had lived in Kerrville for 40 years and had been employed as a supervisor at the VA until his retirement. The family home was on Gilmer Street.

His survivors are his wife of the home address, one son, Dale, of Arlington and a stepson, Lawrence Gibson, of Houston, two brothers and three sister.^[9]

Arthur was buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.^[10]
