Biography

Sarah Jeanett "Jennie" Moran was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Marmaduke Young Moran (1818-1883) Moran-5729 and Mary Agnes Herndon (1829-1885) Herndon-2397.

As a baby she lived in the house of her maternal grandfather, Benjamin Rhodes Herndon Herndon-2398.^[1]. Her family migrated to Arkansas. There she married and raised her children.

Marriage

Jennie Moran married Quintillian Pitman Tucker on Decmeber 12, 1867 in Star City, Arkansas.

Census Records

(1850 Census for District 4, Fayette County, Tennessee.) Sarah J. a baby lived with her father Marmaduke age 33, her mother Mary age 21, her maternal grandfather Benjamin Herndon age 46 and her aunts and uncles William Herndon age 20, John age 17, Benjamin age 16, Henderson age 10, Rebecca age 9, Sarah age 7, Thomas age 8, Zachary age 3 and Rufus age 2.^[2]

Between 1860 and 1880 she moved around quite a bit with her husband and census records have not been found.

(1880 Census for Owen, Lincoln County, Arkansas.) Jennie age 30 lived with her husband Quin age 38 and their children Ida age 11, Arthur age 9, Mollie age 7 and Lee age 1.^[3]

(1900 Census for Owen, Lincoln County, Arkansas.) Jennie age 51 lived with her children Lonnie age 21, Alma age 16, Marvin age 15 and Willie age 13.^[4]

(1910 Census of Whiteville, Jefferson County, Arkansas.) Jennie age 60 lived in the home of Charles and Elizabeth Fish whose home sat between several of Jennie's children.^[5]

Other Records

Jennie filed for her husband's war pension^[6] in 1910 while living in Jefferson County, Arkansas. He had served in the Civil War.

According to city directories, Jennie often visited her grown sons of whom some went to California and others to Texas. The men worked for the railroad and that job took them many places.

Death

While visiting her son Arthur in California she was hit by a streetcar that ended her life a few days later. That event happened in Los Angeles. I do not know where she was buried.
