Biography

When John Ellis John Ellis (1789-1864)was born on July 11, 1789, in Ware, Massachusetts, his father, SethJohn Ellis (abt.1711-aft.1754), was 35 and his mother, BetsyElisbeth (Gilmore) Ellis (1766-1858), was 23.

John came from a family with 9 children, 4 boys and 5 girls. The family lived in Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

John Ellis Was married to Lucy Burt on April 15, 1816, in Hardwich, they had 6 children, Ebenezer Burt, Susan Snow, Abiathar Parkhurstg, John Gilmore, David Stacy and Asa King between 1816 and 1832 when Lucy died.

Then he married Mercy Peckham May 20, 1833 and they had one son together. Unfortunately she died in Feb. 1835 and her son John Ellis died just one month later. Well John had a family to be cared for and married again, to Sally Peeso, Oct. 31, 1835 and were married until about 1852.

Again John is single and marries again to Lettice Negus, in about 1852 and were married to April 12, 1864 when Lettice passed away.

I do know that John died of typhoid fever and he passing away on April 9, 1864 just days before his 4th wife passed away. Perhaps she had typhoid as well.
