Biography
(John) Lovett Reed fought in the Revolutionary War enlisting in North Carolina Troops under Capt. Nelson, Lieut. Charles Hughes,and Ensign McBride. After the war he received a pension for his services. In February of 1833, his widow, (Sybil) Sibby Reed applied for widow Revolutionary War benefits (which were granted). In her application of proof of relationship, she relates that they were living in Bledsoe County and that during the birth of her son, George, she could hear the guns of the Battle of Guilford Court House". George was born on March 16, 1781.
