Janet (Sutherland) Eckersall was born in Salford, Lancashire, England.

Janet Sutherland was born in 1872 in Salford, Lancashire, England, the daughter of James Callan Sutherland and Ann Jane Brown. [1]

She was baptised Janet Callan Sutherland on 11 August 1872 in St Nathaniel's church, Edge Hill, Lancashire. [2]

Her father died in 1880.

In 1881, Janet was living with her mother and 4 siblings in West Derby, Lancashire. Her mother was a shopkeeper. [3]

In 1891 Janet was a servant for George Hacker, a 'merchant and manufacturer' and his family in Crumpsall, Manchester, Lancashire.[4]

She married Isaiah Eckersall in 1896. Their marriage was registered in Prestwich, Lancashire. [5]

In 1901 the couple were living in Crumpsall with 3 children. Her husband was a railway ticket collector. [6]

Her husband died in 1910.

In 1911 Janet, a railway office attendant, was living in Johnsons Square Crumpsall with 5 children. [7]
