Fred B Fowlkes Jr., little son of the late Mrs. Laura Fowlkes died morning of Friday April 5,1918 at the Fowlkes home north of town from an attack of membranous croup.

This little boy was two years 4 months and 8 days old and had been kept by his sisters since the death of his mother a few months since. His father Fred B Fowlkes died before the little child was born. Funeral services held on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock conducted by Rev E L James of this city after which burial was made at the Hillside cemetery.
